During the opening of the First Environmental Fair of Mining, Energy and Clay the Vice-Minister of Mines, Carlos Andres Cante, highlighted the bet made by the Office of the Governor of Norte de Santander in support of Proper and Responsible Mining Activities through the department.
"As we advanced towards the transformation of the mining industry and incorporate technology, the benefits will be recognized and they will provide welfare to society," Cante Puentes explained.
During his presentation on the challenges faced by mining in Norte de Santander, the Vice-Minister of Mines emphasized that mining formalization processes for small-scale mining activities must continue. "This does not only mean obtaining access to a mining title. Progress must be made towards environmental, technical and mining formalization as well as providing work safety to our miners," Vice-Minister Cante stated.
Likewise, the official explained that it is possible to carry out Proper Mining Activities in a responsible manner, protecting reserve areas as well as regional production activities.
The event included the participation of the Governor of Norte de Santander, William Villamizar; the Secretary of Mines and Energy from Norte de Santander, Fabio Araque; Senator Manuel Guillermo Mora; the President of the National Mining Agency, Silvana Habib; businessmen, universities and miners from throughout the department.
