Ministry of Mines and Energy. Buenos Aires, Cauca. May 23rd, 2018. The Ministry of Mines and Energy has used resources from the Production Incentive in order to contribute to the cleaning, recovery and construction of the Agua Fria brook basin located within the rural settlement of La Balsa in the Municipality of Buenos Aires. This public work will benefit over 2,500 people.
"Environmental protection is one of the main pillars of this sector and thanks to the Production Incentive we are supporting these public works that are essential for our regional progress. Today, we have taken an important step towards fighting pollution and restoring this brook," said the Minister of Mines and Energy, German Arce Zapata.
This project, with a cost of over $112 million pesos, consisted of building retaining walls in order to prevent the overflow of the brook and of carrying out public works for the management of wastewater and storm water, intended for the purpose of contributing to the rehabilitation of this water source.
"With the Production Incentive, the goal is promoting the comprehensive extraction and usage of non-renewable natural resources and contributing to the sustainable development of the regions," said the Vice-Minister of Mines, Carlos Andres Cante Puentes.
